    You Have Been Telling Prediabetic Patients the Wrong Thing. For years. So has every doctor. "Lose weight. Exercise more. Eat better. You will be fine." A landmark study just published in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology just proved that advice, while not wrong, was dangerously incomplete. King's College London researchers reanalysed data from two massive long term diabetes prevention studies, one in the US and one in China, tracking prediabetic patients for decades. The finding that changes everything: People who reversed prediabetes and normalised their blood sugar experienced a 58% lower risk of cardiovascular death or hospitalisation for heart failure. And a 42% lower risk of heart attack, stroke and other major cardiovascular events. 58%. 42%. For a condition affecting more than one billion people worldwide. But here is the part that should make every clinician stop and think: Earlier analyses of the same studies found that lifestyle interventions alone, more exercise and healthier diets, did not significantly reduce cardiovascular disease risk. Read that again. The lifestyle changes were not enough. What mattered was not whether patients exercised
