There is No Safe Amount of Alcohol. We have been saying "drink in moderation" for decades. New research just made that conversation much harder to have. A major analysis, 56 systematic reviews and meta-analyses, published in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs just delivered the most comprehensive verdict yet on alcohol and health: No clear health benefit from even low level drinking. None. Not even the famous red wine and heart health story survived this analysis. The numbers are stark: Alcohol-related mortality risk exceeded 1 death per 1,000 people at approximately 6.5 drinks per week for men and 7 drinks per week for women.
