Scientists Detect Hidden Skin Damage Before It Becomes Visible Skin aging and tissue damage are often identified only after collagen fibers become thinner, fragmented, or lose their structural integrity. However, these visible changes may occur much later than previously thought. A new study published in ACS Nano suggests that collagen begins to lose its molecular organization long before conventional imaging can detect any structural abnormalities. The findings provide new insights into the earliest stages of skin aging and tissue deterioration.
