    Improving Cardiovascular Health May Reduce the Risk of Recurrent Coronary Heart Disease People with coronary heart disease (CHD) remain at significant risk of experiencing another cardiovascular event. While the American Heart Association's Life's Simple 7 (LS7) cardiovascular health metrics are known to reduce the risk of developing heart disease, less is known about whether changes in these metrics after a CHD diagnosis influence the risk of recurrence. A recent study published in Circulation: Population Health and Outcomes examined how changes in Life's Simple 7 scores over time were associated with recurrent coronary heart disease. Researchers analyzed data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study, a long-term community-based cohort in the United States. The study included 1,330 adults with coronary heart disease (mean age 55.2 years; 50.2% women). Life's Simple 7 scores were assessed at two study visits approximately six years apart.
