AI-Powered Blood Test May Predict Heart Disease Risk Up to 15 Years Before Symptoms Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, often developing silently over many years before symptoms appear. Now, researchers at the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) have developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool that may identify people at high risk of cardiovascular disease up to 15 years before clinical onset using a single blood test. The findings were published in Nature Communications. The AI model, called CardiOmicScore, analyzes thousands of proteins and metabolites in a blood sample to estimate an individual's future risk of six major cardiovascular diseases: Coronary artery disease Stroke Heart failure Atrial fibrillation Peripheral artery disease Venous thromboembolism Unlike traditional genetic risk scores, which remain constant throughout life, CardiOmicScore reflects a person's current biological health, incorporating changes influenced by aging, lifes
