Three major studies were published simultaneously in The Lancet, The New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA, a rare milestone in medical research, all pointing to the same conclusion. Finerenone works far beyond what we previously thought. Finerenone is a non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist currently approved only for chronic kidney disease associated with type 2 diabetes. The mineralocorticoid receptor when overactivated drives inflammation and scarring in kidney tissue. Finerenone blocks this pathway, protecting kidney function and reducing cardiovascular risk. Until now its use was limited to diabetic CKD patients. These three studies change that picture completely. Study 1 — FIND-CKD Trial — Non Diabetic CKD Published in New England Journal of Medicine This trial enrolled 1,584 people with non-diabetic CKD across 24 countries. Patients on finerenone in addition to standard care showed significantly slower decline in kidney function. The combined risk of kidney failure, worsening CKD, heart failure or cardiovascular death was reduced by 23% compared to standard care alone. This is eno
